At Lee Shettle Eye & Hearing, we are constantly seeking to add important services for our patients that will enhance their quality of life. Because of the strong connection between vision and hearing, we are pleased to now offer a full range of hearing services exclusively for our patients through our Hearing Center – a convenient, private and comfortable setting at our local office.
We are all familiar with how our vision deteriorates during our later years in life. We may not be as aware of gradual hearing loss, which affects us as we age. Hearing loss gradually occurs in a similar way to vision loss, but can go undetected. Hearing loss can lead to safety and health issues, in addition to affecting our quality of life. Because of this link between hearing and vision loss, Dr. Lee Shettle has added hearing services as a part of our expanded clinical services for patients who are over the age of 58. Dr. Shettle can perform a brief hearing screening evaluation, and based on the results then be able to refer you to our in-office hearing instrument specialist. Our hearing instrument specialist will conduct a thorough hearing assessment using our state-of-the art computerized hearing software and a professional grade hearing booth. We also have a medical grade otoscope to inspect the ear canal, which is displayed on a television monitor. This thorough hearing assessment is complimentary. Once the evaluation is complete, our hearing instrument specialist will explain the results of the examination to you and your family to determine the best treatment options available.
Dual Sensory Wellness
Our hearing program is one element of providing patient care for dual sensory wellness – the dual senses of vision and hearing. It’s all part of supporting a healthier lifestyle and to enhance our patients’ quality of life. Vision and hearing are often recognized as our two most important senses. Unfortunately, both tend to fail as we age. Additionally, a majority of adults haven’t had a hearing test in decades. So to assist our patients, Lee Shettle Eye & Hearing has added hearing care services because a majority of adults who suffer from hearing loss are unaware they have a hearing decline. Catching changes early can save or help preserve hearing – just as it does with vision.
